Prime Minister Narendra Modi was congratulated by NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, who is also a close aide of the Prime Minister, on his second consecutive term as Prime Minister.

Apart from Jaishankar, other senior Congress leaders including former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor and Jairam Ramesh extended their good wishes to the Prime Minister on his second term. However, Tharoor reportedly declined an invitation to attend a meeting of senior BJP leaders at the party’s headquarters in Delhi.
Senior Congress leader Kharge was reported to be in contention for the position of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha.
Kharge stands strong against Tharoor
According to sources, senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor is reportedly among the top contenders for the position of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha. Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Kharge was seen standing strong against Tharoor’s bid.
The two leaders were spotted arguing over a key post.
Jaishankar congratulates PM Modi
NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Subrahmanyam Jaishankar was the first to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his second consecutive term. The statement from Jaishankar’s office confirmed that he had sent a message of congratulations to the Prime Minister.
